CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SUPPORT
Providing excellent customer service and support is one of the keys to our success. These are some of the factors that contribute to exceptional customer service:
- Our staffing consultants are on-call to meet our clients’ needs, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We like all of our customers to have cellular numbers for each of our staff members whereby we can be reached at any time to assist in staffing needs as they arise.
- Our staffing consultants have a current list of customers names and numbers along with all temporary staff names and numbers with us at all times which allows us to fill an opening with an experienced person with as little down time as possible.
- Our staffing consultants visit client sites to assess the environment and working conditions and to determine the right type of people for the job.
- We obtain and retain the most effective temporary employees by selecting superior performers, paying a competitive wage and providing and outstanding set of incentives, including a full benefit package once they qualify.
- We are in constant contact with our client to assess how the assigned employee is doing and if they have any concerns about the employee returning the following day.

We at UNIVERSAL STAFFING believe that every client is unique and has servicing needs that may be different from other companies, even within the same industry. All of our clients have one reason or another for using a staffing service such as ours to supply them with temporary and full time staff. We like to understand the reason a customer is using a staffing service which will help us in assisting their direct needs and ensure that we are following the customers agenda, whether it is temporary short term workers or long term placements. We also offer a number of additional services to further enhance the level of customer service you will be receiving:

RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION PROCESS
The recruitment and selection procedures used by UNIVERSAL STAFFING are outlined below. These processes can be tailored to meet the particular needs of your organization.
LEGISLATION
UNIVERSAL STAFFING supports and adheres to all Employment and Pay equity legislation, both federal and provincial. All personnel selections are based on the job requirements (skills, effort, responsibility and working conditions).
EXTERNAL RECRUITMENT
UNIVERSAL STAFFING advertises in a number of local and national newspapers, the Internet and local EI branches, along with community employment services. We advertise to fill specific jobs, update our available list of employees and for name recognition as a qualified supplier of temporary and full time staff. We also solicit applicants from local educational institutions.
FIRST CONTACT
We interview all applicants wishing to register with our agency. Resumes are analyzed and, depending on the qualifications of the individual, appointments are booked according to the urgency of positions to be filled. Candidates are selected based on the results of their interviews, assessment of their skills and qualifications and results of reference verification.
INTERVIEWS
The in-office registration and interview takes approximately 1 to 2 hours depending on the position available and the applicant’s qualifications. All applicants must fully complete our application form and give written permission for reference verification. Once an application has been completed, a consultant will interview the applicant for approximately 20 to 30 minutes. During the interview, our consultants ask only questions that are acceptable under the HUMAN RIGHTS CODE.
TESTING
On completion of the interview, applicants are tested according to their skills. Test results are available to both applicants and clients. We are able to customize our testing procedures to target specific skill areas.
REFERENCE VERIFICATION
Every candidate must supply us with one verifiable work reference, which will be checked by one of our consultants. In the event that we are not able to verify a work reference, we will base our recommendation on a personal reference and our interview, with our clients consent.
Our reference checks consist of questions regarding the applicants quality of work , rehire eligibility, attendance and punctuality, job duties, dates of employment and the reason for leaving.
SELECTION
Candidate selection is based on results from interviews, assessment of skills qualifications and references verification. All applicants are informed of the outcome of our selection process. We try to find the best fit for each placement by assessing the candidate, analyzing the job description as supplied by the client, and applying a targeted job analysis. Our consultants have been trained to determine the most suitable employee for the job at hand.
TEMPORARY PLACEMENTS
When our temporary staff is placed with your company, UNIVERSAL STAFFING acts as the employer. We assume the responsibility for paying our employees and for making all EI, CPP, Income tax, Health Tax, Workers Compensation Premiums and Vacation Pay contributions. Your company will be invoiced based on hours worked times billing rate. All hours reported to UNIVERSAL STAFFING must be authorized by the client or designated supervisor. Unless otherwise instructed, it is the responsibility of our employees to ensure that their hours are sent to us for weekly payroll and invoicing. To determine billing rates, we establish a mark-up percentage, which is applied to the pay rates. This mark-up is based on several factors including anticipated volume of business, level of servicing required and anticipated length of assignment. We like to discuss pay rates for each position based on skill and experience required for the job, as well as the dollar value required to attract a particular caliber of applicant.
TEMPORARY TO PERMANENT
If a client wishes to hire a temporary employee on a full-time basis, the temp-to-perm fee is waived provided the employee has been on our payroll and at that client site for a stipulated period of time. This time period is determined in advance and varies according to circumstances. The temp-to-perm arrangement is beneficial when you want to observe the candidate in the job and evaluate performance over time, without formal commitment. In addition, some companies find that their accounting procedures are simplified when they pay a weekly invoice instead of a permanent placement fee.
PERMANENT PLACEMENTS
For a permanent placement fee, UNIVERSAL STAFFING will recruit, interview and select candidates for presentation to a client, usually at the final interview stage. If a candidate is hired, the individual performance is guaranteed for a specific amount of time. The permanent placement arrangement gives you a structured guarantee based on an agreed upon length of employment.
